I found these hand carved Roman Tuscan style natural stone columns on Craig’s list real cheap. The guy delivered them from Mexico to my house. Cantera sandstone is made of volcanic ash and pumice that has solidified into rock. It is softer and lighter than most stone and is easily shaped. The stone did not look very good at this point and I was thinking I may have just wasted 00. Look at the later videos to see how well they turned out! I eventually used TileLab Matte acrlyic stone sealer. I also have video of this stuff on slate youtu.be Recorded on November 14, 2009.

The 2″x2″ top slats were spaced at 6″. I made a 22.5 degree cut on each end. The top slats were attached to the rafters with deck screws at every rafter. The redwood was stained with Canyon Brown oil based stain and sealer. Recorded on January 2, 2010.
