Neighbors say they’re living next to a hoarder who refuses to clean up his property. They say his house in Northeast Albuquerque is not only an eyesore but a health and safety hazard. Some neighbors contacted us at KOB, then we checked with city code enforcement and found out the home near Louisiana and Paseo del Norte has been a problem for years. David Waterman is the owner, he says he’s been remodeling the house. “The furniture [is] sitting here because I kept it outside because I litterally have torn walls out and I’m widening all the doors for my wife’s wheelchair,” Waterman tells us. The problem is this remodeling has been going on for 5 years. Waterman admits the pile started growing outside his home as he struggled to keep up with repairs, which explains the wood and building material. Neighbors say they understood when the stuff starting piling up, but now it’s gotten out of control. Just two weeks ago someone filed a complaint with the city upset about “an abundance of trash, tires and construction material.” They continued to say that everytime they issue a complaint, nothing is done.” Even though the city has stopped by multiple times, Waterman says he’s just gotten warnings. The city says a criminal complaint has never been filed until just recently. Now that the legal system is involved, it could mean heavy fines. Neighbors want NE Heights house cleaned up
